Relief Printmaking, conveniently located near Toronto, offers a comprehensive introduction to the art of creating multiple impressions through carving and inking techniques. Designed specifically for beginners, this five-week course provides a structured and supportive learning environment. Participants will delve into the foundational relief methods of linoleum cuts and woodcuts. The curriculum will cover the use of chisels to carefully remove material from the block's surface, thereby defining the raised areas that will hold the ink. Expert instructors will guide students through the processes of working with both linoleum and wood, demonstrating proper inking techniques, and transferring the inked image onto paper using either a printing press or the traditional hand-burnishing method.
