Overview
The Domus Aurea Tour takes visitors to Nero's Golden House in Rome. This was a big project by Emperor Nero to make Rome look like a new, fancy city. About 60 years later, Emperor Hadrian also built a big villa, like this one, 30 km from Rome.
People found a cave with painted pictures inside. Young artists went inside to see the old, pretty paintings. The paintings are not as bright now, but artists like Michelangelo and Raphael looked at them. Raphael even used the paintings to help him make the Vatican Loggia. The word "grotesque" came from these paintings.
