Be prepared for a lack of shade during summer months as you explore this fascinating piece of Joshua Tree's past.
Queen Valley Mine
Delve into the darker side of Joshua Tree's history at the abandoned mine in Queen Valley. Review Summary
Customers generally say this self-guided audio tour offers an affordable, flexible way to explore Joshua Tree National Park at your own pace with informative narration about the area's history and geology. Travelers appreciate the convenience of using their own vehicle and the ability to download the app for offline use, making it ideal for first-time visitors and those wanting to avoid crowded group tours. Common praise highlights the GPS-triggered audio commentary that plays automatically, reducing the need to reference guides manually, while some note that having a backup map is helpful due to occasional cell service gaps in the desert. The main limitation mentioned is that it requires your own vehicle and is not suitable for those with mobility challenges, though the flexibility to start, stop, and explore at will is considered a significant advantage over traditional van tours.
