While we'll enjoy a photostop, capturing its dramatic silhouette against the Firth of Forth, note that this visit focuses on external views of this iconic stronghold, often referred to as 'the ship that never sailed' due to its unique shape.
Midhope Castle (Lallybroch)
Step into the world of 'Outlander' at Midhope Castle, better known as Lallybroch, the ancestral home of Jamie Fraser. This 16th-century tower house offers a glimpse into the past, although access is restricted on November 15th and 22nd, 2023, and from December 22nd, 2023, to March 15th, 2024. During these closures, we will visit the charming town of Falkland instead.
Linlithgow Palace
Explore the magnificent ruins of Linlithgow Palace, the birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots. Wander through the grand halls and imagine the palace's former glory. After immersing ourselves in its rich history, we'll have time to savor a delicious lunch in the nearby town.
