Wet Exits, Recovery, and Rescue Class is a hands-on experience designed to equip kayakers with essential safety skills. This 3-hour class focuses on learning how to safely exit a kayak while wearing a spray skirt (wet exit), recover and re-enter after capsizing, and perform rescues to assist others. It's perfect for intermediate paddlers seeking to build confidence and competence on the water.
Participants will engage in physically demanding drills, including swimming, pumping water, and climbing back into partially submerged kayaks. The class ensures participants know the critical skills of self and assisted rescue. This small-group setting allows for personalized instruction and focused practice.
The class is led by an ACA Certified Instructor, ensuring quality instruction and a safe learning environment. Participants can bring their own kayaking gear (kayak, PFD, spray skirt, and sponge) or use the equipment provided. Bilge pumps and paddle floats are also available for use. This class proceeds rain or shine, rescheduling only in the event of lightning.
